Western Oregon University’s Department of Theatre and Dance invites you to experience one of Broadway’s greatest thrillers, “Deathtrap” by Ira Levin. Performances will be held Wednesday, July 31 through Saturday, August 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Rice Auditorium. There will be one matinee at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 3. Tickets for Deathtrap can be purchased at the Rice Auditorium Box Office by calling 503-838-8462. Box Office hours are Monday through Friday 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

One of the great popular successes of recent Broadway history, this ingeniously constructed play offers a rare and skillful blending of two priceless theatrical ingredients—gasp-inducing thrills and spontaneous laughter. Dealing with the devious machinations of a writer of thrillers whose recent offerings have been flops, and who is prepared to go to any lengths to improve his fortunes, it provides twists and turns and sudden shocks in such abundance that audiences will be held spellbound until the very last moment.

Directed by WOU theatre professor David Janoviak, the cast includes WOU alumnus Jessie Whitehead (Salem) as Sidney Bruhl; Amanda Konstantin (Portland) as Myra Bruhl; Trevor Jackson (Salem) as Clifford Anderson; Erin Cunningham (Corvallis) as Helga Ten Dorp; and Eric Kearns as Porter Milgrim.

Time Magazine said of Deathtrap, “If you care to assassinate yourself with laughter, try DEATHTRAP,” and The New York Post said, “It is a classic thriller, a genre with a style, a manner and an audience of its own. If you like thrillers, do see it. I promise you that it is vintage.”
